แท็บเล็ตโมโตโรล่า ฮึดสู้ ส่ง ET1 รุกตลาดเอ็นเตอร์ไพรซ์

ทิศทางการทำงานของประชากรทั่วโลก จะอยู่นอกสำนักงานกันมากขึ้น ซึ่งเรียกผู้ทำงานลักษณะนี้ว่า Mobile Worker และปัจจุบันมีไม่น้อยกว่า 920 ล้านคนทั่วโลก โดยคาดการณ์กันว่า Mobile Worker จะมีตัวเลขเติบโตเป็น 1.19 พันล้านคน ภายในปี 2013 จากนวัตกรรมใหม่ๆ ที่สามารถตอบโจทย์ลูกค้าองค์กรให้สามารถทำงานได้หลายแพลทฟอร์ม หรือเป็น Multi OS มากขึ้น โดยผู้ใช้ไม่ต้องมานั่งกังวลว่าจะปรับตัวไม่ทันกับเทคโนโลยี

ภายหลัง โมโตโรล่า ขายธุรกิจในส่วนโมบายล์ให้กับโนเกียและซีเมนส์ไปก่อนหน้านี้ กับการที่จะกลับมายืนอยู่ในแถวหน้าได้เหมือนก่อน คงต้องหาจุดยืนที่เหมาะสม ปัจจุบัน โมโตโรล่า ประกาศทิศทางธุรกิจ หันมาเป็น โมโตโรล่า โซลูชั่น จนกระทั่งทิศทางใหม่นี้เริ่มที่จะนิ่ง พร้อมๆ กับการมีผลิตภัณฑ์ใหม่เข้ามาเปิดตัวในตลาด นั่นคือ แท็บเล็ต ET1 รุ่นแรก ที่มีราคาอยู่ที่ประมาณ 1,000 เหรียญสหรัฐ

ซีเกท ทุ่ม 1,000 ล้านบาท ขยายฐานการผลิตในประเทศไทย

ซีเกท เทคโนโลยี ประกาศแผนการลงทุน โดยสร้างอาคารผลิตหลังใหม่สำหรับการผลิตหัวอ่าน-เขียน ณ โรงงานซีเกท โคราช มูลค่า 1,000 ล้านบาท ใช้พื้นที่กว่า 29,800 ตารางเมตร คาดจะเริ่มดำเนินการผลิตได้ในเดือนกุมภาพันธ์ พ.ศ. 2555

เจฟฟรี่ย์ ดี. ไนการ์ด รองประธานและผู้จัดการใหญ่ ฝ่ายปฏิบัติการประเทศไทยและปีนัง บริษัทซีเกท เทคโนโลยี (ประเทศไทย) จำกัด กล่าวว่า บริษัทยังให้ความมั่นใจที่จะลงทุนในประเทศไทย รวมทั้งการถ่ายโอนเทคโนโลยีชั้นนำมายังประเทศไทยอย่างต่อเนื่อง โดยจะทำงานอย่างใกล้ชิด ทั้งหน่วยงานภาครัฐและชุมชนต่าง ๆเพื่อเศรษฐกิจในภาพรวมขับเคลื่อนต่อไป

การลงทุนใหม่ จะทำให้บริษัทเพิ่มปริมาณการผลิตหัวอ่าน-เขียน จากปัจจุบันขึ้นถึงร้อยละ 40 ถือเป็นการตอบสนองความต้องการของตลาดโลกที่เพิ่มขึ้นในการจัดเก็บข้อมูลในฮาร์ดดิสก์ไดรฟ์

โรงงานผลิตชิ้นส่วน และดิสก์ไดรฟ์ของบริษัทในประเทศไทยไม่ได้รับผลกระทบโดยตรงจากน้ำท่วม อย่างไรก็ตาม ความสามารถของบริษัทในการผลิตฮาร์ดดิสก์ไดรฟ์ได้รับผลกระทบ เนื่องจากการสะดุดของอุปทานของชิ้นส่วนจากผู้ป้อนชิ้นส่วนให้แก่บริษัท แต่ยังคงเชื่อว่าผลกระทบต่ออุตสาหกรรมอันมาจากภาวะน้ำท่วมที่ครอบคลุมหลายพื้นที่ในประเทศไทย

Effective Messure เผย เอเชียอาคเนย์ แอปเปิลบูม

รายงานจาก Effective Messure แอปเปิลครองส่วนแบ่งตลาดอย่างกว้างขวางในภูมิภาคเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้ โดยมีผู้ใช้งานอุปกรณ์สื่อสารไร้สายในภูมิภาคนี้ถึง 53.1%

รายงานดังกล่าว ยังระบุว่า ในเดือน ต.ค.ที่ผ่านมา ส่วนแบ่งตลาดขนาดใหญ่ที่สุดของแอปเปิลอยู่ในประเทศไทยและสิงคโปร์ โดยมีจำนวนผู้ใช้งานอุปกรณ์ค่ายนี้กว่า 70% โดยประเทศไทยมียอดผู้ใช้งานสูงถึง 79.6% ขณะที่ iPad ได้รับความนิยมสูงถึง 47.9%

Momentum in Thailand's PC Market to Lose Steam, IDC Reports

According to IDC's Asia/Pacific Quarterly PC Tracker, Thailand's PC market continued to gain traction in 3Q 2011 with an impressive 33% growth over the same period last year.

Better than expected consumer spending and demand from enterprises and government agencies helped push the market, resulting in the expansion of both the portable PC and desktop PC markets.

Since the beginning of 2011, Thailand’s PC market has expanded at a very fast pace, reaching over 1 million quarterly unit shipments in both 2Q and 3Q. However, IDC believes that the momentum has been severely disrupted by the recent flooding across several parts of the country. Not only will the market slow down significantly in the last quarter of 2011, but the negative impact is likely to persist throughout the first half of 2012.

"Aggressive vendor strategies to increase domestic consumer demand paid off during the first half of 3Q. However, in light of the slumping global economy as well as the widespread flooding, consumer sentiment deteriorated rapidly as the quarter progressed ," said Jarit Sidhu, Associate Market Analyst for Client Devices Research at IDC Thailand. HP props up its veteran Pavilion range with new releases

It's hard to believe, but my tech friends have declared HP's prognosis terminal. But while the other sectors of the multinational diverge, the company's PC manufacturing arm seems to be ticking over. HP continues with its Pavilion notebooks, the middle-class compatriot of the snazzy Envy range, with a new series of PCs. The specifications look impressive on paper, but do they deliver anything new to the series that is starting to become a little long in the tooth? Let's see if HP's persistence with the Pavilion series can increase the manufacturer's longevity.

FORM

Although the design follows an established path for the Pavilion range, it shows some welcome departures from previous models. For a start, the materials are more practical, without all the gloss and sheen of the plastic of the past. The lid and palm rest inside are brushed metal, with some sleek contours to match the understated finish. The unit is no lightweight at over 3kg, but it feels sturdy and durable (although you wouldn't want to drop it _ if you managed to lift it off your desk). Overall, the build quality is impressive, and some fresh visual cues give the range a needed lift.

Comcast CEO fined $500,000 in antitrust case

US authorities said Friday that Comcast chief executive Brian Roberts would pay $500,000 to settle charges that he violated stock buying rules.

The Justice Department said Roberts will pay the civil penalty "to settle charges that he violated pre-merger reporting and waiting requirements when he acquired Comcast voting securities."

The department filed the antitrust lawsuit in the US federal court in Washington, and separately proposed the settlement, which requires court approval.

Roberts also is chairman of the board of Comcast, the largest cable television operator and high-speed Internet provider in the United States.

Roberts twice before had "made corrective filings" after failing to file and observe the waiting period, but this was the first time he was charged with an antitrust violation, the Justice Department said in a statement.

In a statement Comcast said the failure to file was "technical and inadvertent" and "did not involve any financial gain to the company or to Mr. Roberts."

A Comcast spokesperson said lawyers had put in place safeguards to ensure it would not happen again.

Sony to launch PlayStation Vita handheld console

Sony on Saturday launches its next-generation PlayStation Vita handheld console in Japan, its gamble to take a bite out of the burgeoning smartphone market for games.

The new device features a five-inch (12 centimetre) organic LED touch screen and comes in WiFi and 3G models, according to the Japanese electronics giant.

"Pre-orders are very strong," Andrew House, head of Sony's game unit, told Kyodo News and other media in Tokyo.

Without giving a specific figure, the Sony Computer Entertainment president said the company was aiming for sales of the PS Vita to far outstrip the 73 million units of the PlayStation Portable sold around the world since 2004.

PS Vitas will be launched in the United States and Europe on February 22, Sony said.

Nintendo's Game Boy, released in 1989, led the handheld game market until the mid-2000s when Sony's PSP cut into its share. But the emergence of iPhone and Android games is threatening the existence of game-specific handheld devices.
